Back On Track

It’s been an incredibly busy summer which just last Sunday, culminated in our first ever terrace concert in our beer garden. We hosted the wonderful singer Desney Bailey who, together with Joel Holmes on keys and Daryl Taylor on bass, brought a great mix of standards and soul tunes from Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, and Sade to the table.

We have enjoyed lots of great new music during the past months and especially liked the new Michael Franks, “The Music In My Head”, new Tom Misch, “Geography”, which I immediately bought on vinyl, too, and Ntjam Rosie‘s latest “Breaking Cycles”. And we are still mourning the loss of two of my favorite voices in music, Morgana King and Aretha Franklin.

The good news that this season is slowly but surely coming to an end is the fact that I will now find the time again to post things here on a regular basis and that I’ll be able to go out again and see some of the acts who are coming to town, like the wonderful Maria Rita who’ll be performing tonight at Astra, accompanied only by pianist Rannieri Oliveira. Coming up, among many more things, is my review of the new Madeleine Peyroux album “Anthem”.
